Worry – June 22, 2024

Dear friends in Christ, in our Gospel today, Jesus told us not to worry about our lives, what we will eat and drink. This is not an invitation to be lazy and idle, but it is an invitation to not be anxious about everything. Worry enslaves us to money and makes us focus on our troubles rather than on our blessings. We worry about material things and that makes us harbour jealousy, cheat, defraud, kill and even sell our consciences. If anything, worry adds to the long list of problems. Rather than worry, a better alternative is to take our concerns to God in prayer. If anything is worth worrying about, it’s worth praying about. As today’s palmist says, “I will keep my love for him always.” I urge you to keep your love for God always and He will never abandon you and your household.
