The birth of John, which the Holy Mother Church celebrates today, attests to the graciousness of God, not just toward the parents of John, Zechariah and Elizabeth, but to all mankind. The miraculous circumstances of John’s birth and naming reaffirmed the faithfulness of God to His promises. Given the circumstances surrounding his birth, people wondered, “what will this child be?” Little did they know that from the womb he had been formed to be great, God’s servant and the forerunner of Christ. Like John, we all have our specific missions on this earth. The moment we start realizing our purpose/mission in life is the moment we start living. Like John whom we celebrate today, you are born great. Don’t hesitate to use the potential in you. May the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ enlighten the eyes of our mind, so that we can see what hope His call holds for us. Amen.
